Dr. Barbara Lovrinić Higgins and Dr. Aleksandra Uzelac participated in the international conference 11th ICARUS Croatia Days: “(Re)Discovering Archives: From Research to Storytelling”

The 11th ICARUS Croatia Days were held in Stubičke Toplice from 18 to 20 March 2026 under the title (Re)Discovering Archives: From Research to Storytelling. The conference brought together numerous participants from Croatia, Montenegro, Hungary, Estonia, and other European countries. The programme focused on contemporary trends in the digitisation and preservation of written heritage, the development of cultural networks, and the presentation of ongoing heritage projects.

Dr. Aleksandra Uzelac and Dr. Barbara Lovrinić Higgins took part in the conference, with Dr. Lovrinić Higgins delivering a presentation titled: “Between Code and Narrative: The Digital Transformation of Archives and Memory.” The presentation addressed the impact of digital technologies on knowledge structures and archival practice. It emphasised the relationship between algorithmic data processing and the human need for narrative, concluding that digital transformation fundamentally reshapes how archives are created, used, and understood in contemporary society.
