Lucija Gegić Stanić, an associate at the CULTMED project and the Department of Culture and Communication, participated in the conference “Studentski protesti 2024/25: BloKADA, ako ne SADA?” (Student Protests 2024/25: Blockade WHEN, if not NOW?), held on November 22 and 23 at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade on the anniversary of the start of student blockades in Serbia. She took part in the online panel “The Agency of Student Protest” with a presentation titled “Media War for Legitimacy: RTS, Students, and the Struggle for Public Discourse.”
The event was organised by the Institute for Sociological Research in Belgrade and brought together a wide circle of participants, scholars, professors, and students, who discussed from various perspectives the causes, challenges, and consequences of the student protests, as well as the transformations of public space that occurred during the blockades.
The conference program was rich and diverse, featuring a series of panels dedicated to the political, social, cultural, and generational implications of the blockades. Participants discussed topics such as protest strategies, institutional responses, educational reforms, the role of the media in the movement, and the long-term effects of the movement on the education system and society.
